Acupuncture is the insertion of needles into specific points on the body to cause a desired healing effect. It includes using fine-needle technique (dry needles), hemoacupuncture (blood-letting), moxibustion (burning of the herb Artemisia vulgaris over acupuncture points), pneumoacupuncture (inserting air under the skin), and acupressure. Acupuncture for animals can help treat a variety of diseases, and works well when combined with traditional veterinary medicine. Animals that are "needle-phobic" can still benefit from LASER acupuncture, which is completely pain/fear-free!
Homeopathy & Homotoxicology
Homeopathy is a type of medicine which involves treating the individual with very diluted natural substances, given in oral, topical, or injectable form, with the aim of triggering the body’s own healing. I use homotoxicologic remedies including Arnica and Gelsemium. These can help treat dogs, cats, and horses for acute and chronic musculoskeletal and neurological problems, and for gastrointestinal problems. I only practice homotoxicology when integrating it with conventional treatment modalities.
Herbals are plants used for oral medicinal purposes. In India and China, these traditions date back thousands of years. Once thought of as “traditional medicine” used by native or ancient cultures, herbal medicine has emerged as a popular alternative or supplement to modern medicine. Herbals are available in a variety of formulations to make it easy to dose your dog, cat, or horse.
LASER therapy is also called photobiomodulation, which utilizes specific wavelengths of light to produce therapeutic effects including improved healing time and improved circulation, as well as reduced pain and swelling. This technology has been utilized in Europe for over 40 years and has achieved approval by the FDA for use in the US over 15 years ago. LASER can be applied to dogs, cats, horses, and farm animals and can even be used for acupuncture in needle-phobic animals.
Therapeutic Ultrasound and Phonophoresis
Therapeutic Ultrasound is a method of stimulating the tissue beneath the skin's surface using very high frequency sound waves, to achieve 3 beneficial results. These include: speeding up of the healing process from the increase in blood flow in the treated area, decreasing pain from the reduction of swelling and edema, and the gentle massage of muscles tendons and/ or ligaments in the treated area and any scar tissue is softened. These benefits are the result of thermal and non-thermal effects of therapeutic ultrasound. Phonophoresis is the application of an anti-inflammatory transducing gel to the ultrasound head for deep delivery of the anti-inflammatory beneath the skin's surface. This can be performed with steroidal or non-steroidal, homeopathic anti-inflammatory agents. It is pain-free and actually produces a soothing sensation for dogs, cats, and horses with joint pain or soft tissue injuries.
Therapeutic Exercises & Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy includes stretching, passive range of motion, dural/vertebral/soft tissue mobilizations, massage, and other techniques. Therapeutic exercise programs are customized for your dog or cat and taught to you. Beneficial exercises performed on a regular basis can help alleviate pain from muscle strains and injuries, orthopedic conditions including arthritis, as well as improve deficits due to neurological diseases.
Take your pet's nutrition to the next level with supplements for joint health, anti-inflammatory effects, and immune system support. Supplements fall under a category of products called "nutraceuticals", which are not FDA-regulated. All recommended supplements are 3rd party, independently tested and approved for safety and efficacy.
